Wainwright, Alta – Media are invited to Garrison Wainwright, Alberta on May 15 to cover Exercise MAPLE RESOLVE 15, the largest Canadian Army exercise of the year. The exercise is taking place from April 20 to May 23.
With approximately 5,200 Canadian Army soldiers, 700 Royal Canadian Air Force members, 700 American troops, and 150 British soldiers participating, Exercise MAPLE RESOLVE 15 is the culminating collective training event that will validate the Canadian Army’s High Readiness task forces, provided by 5e Groupe-brigade mécanisé du Canada from Valcartier, Québec. Upon validation these task forces will be on-call, at a moment’s notice, to deploy on domestic or international operations as assigned by the Government of Canada.
When: May 15, 2015, at 8:00 a.m. (MDT)
Where: Garrison Wainwright, Alberta
What: Media will be able to visit and speak with troops taking part in the exercise and will be given a tour of the exercise “battle space” in aircraft and Canadian Army vehicles.
Embed Opportunity: Media are also invited to embed with Canadian Army units, for 24 to 48 hours, during force-on-force (simulated – no live fire) training between May 12 and 17.
Exercise MAPLE RESOLVE 15 is held within an immersive training environment. In mock villages spread throughout the 62,000 hectare training area, soldiers and civilian actors portray local, regional, and national forces, municipal leadership, civilians, refugees and any other character that makes the training as real as possible.
