Prime Minister Stephen Harper today announced two new initiatives to support security and stability in Iraq. He made the announcement in Erbil during a visit to Iraq, which also included a stop in Baghdad.
Under the projects announced today, bomb disposal robots and night vision goggles will be provided to Iraqi forces fighting the so-called Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS).
The announcement was made following a meeting between Prime Minister Harper and the President of the Iraqi Kurdistan Region, Masoud Barzani, during which they discussed the fight against ISIS, as well as humanitarian and development challenges.
