At approximately 11:00 pm on May 13, 2015, inmate Shawn William Merrick was apprehended by the Langley Detachment of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Langley, BC.
The inmate had been unlawfully at large from the minimum security unit at Mission Institution since March 31, 2015.
The Correctional Service of Canada is conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Ensuring the safety and security of institutions, staff, and public remains the highest priority in the operations of the federal correctional system.
