Wildlife Fencing Component Added to Nova Scotia's Home Grown Success Program

May 1, 2015 – Halifax, Nova Scotia – Agriculture and Agri-Food (AAFC)

A Wildlife Damage Mitigation component will be added into the Home Grown Success Program in Nova Scotia this year.

Funding for deer fences will be available through the $1.6-million Environmental Management and Innovation Initiative under Home Grown Success.

Home Grown Success is part of the five-year Growing Forward 2 initiative for Canada's agriculture and agri-food sector that is cost-shared 60/40 between the federal and provincial governments.
Funding will be 50 per cent of eligible costs to a maximum $15,000. The deadline to apply is Friday, May 15, 2015.
Producers who have already submitted an application to the Home Grown Success Program will be given an opportunity to amend their application if they would like to include deer fencing.
The details on deer fencing requirements are outlined in the program guidelines and generally refer to a dual fencing system or one that is eight feet in height.
