Biovélia undertakes second commercialization phase of innovative products resulting from R&D

By supporting innovation, the Government of Canada is stimulating growth and employment and strengthening the competitiveness of the economy in Chaudière-Appalaches and elsewhere in Québec

June 12, 2015 – Lévis, Quebec - Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)

Acting on behalf of the Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, the Honourable Steven Blaney, Member of Parliament for Lévis–Bellechasse and Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, announces that Biovélia has been granted financial assistance to intensify its business development by implementing the second phase of commercialization of innovative products derived from R&D.

This support is being awarded in the form of a repayable contribution of $150,000 through CED’s Quebec Economic Development Program.

Quick facts

Biovélia is a young organization spun off from the AG-Bio Centre de Lévis incubator for young businesses. It specializes in the development and commercialization of oral delivery systems for nutraceuticals, food supplements and the pharmaceutical industry.
Biovélia’s technology is based on 100 percent natural ingredients and provides active ingredients maximum protection from gastric fluids while ensuring intestinal delivery, the gut being the primary absorption site.
CED’s contribution will enable Biovélia to intensify its commercialization activities, particularly by developing business with large companies in North and South America.
The funding will be used to consult experts, participate in trade shows, develop promotional material and acquire laboratory equipment.
