Member of Parliament Greg Kerr (West Nova) today announced funding of $25,000 for the Conseil des arts de Par-en-Bas on behalf of the Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages.
For the second year in a row, the Conseil des arts de Par-en-Bas is receiving funding for its Évangéline project through the Development of Official-Language Communities Program. The organization will oversee the production and presentation of a musical inspired by the famous poem Evangeline. The play will be put on by members of the community and performed for the public in fall 2015 at the Salle Père Maurice LeBlanc in Tusket.
“Évangéline tells a beautiful love story that shows the tenacity and determination of the Acadian people, who have formed part of our heritage through the centuries. Our Government is proud to support the development of official-language minority communities and their efforts to preserve our Canadian identity.”

– Greg Kerr, MP (West Nova)
“The Conseil des arts de Par-en-Bas is very pleased to receive this contribution from Canadian Heritage for the Évangéline project. With this support, we will be able to offer our community a major cultural production highlighting a significant period in Acadian history. We would like to thank the Government of Canada for its financial support of our special projects.”
