June 26, 2015 Fundy National Park, NB Office of the Minister of the Environment, Parks Canada
The Honourable Rob Moore, Regional Minister for New Brunswick, Minister of State (Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency) and Member of Parliament for Fundy Royal, on behalf of the Honourable Leona Aglukkaq, Minister of the Environment and Minister Responsible for Parks Canada, today announced more than $28 million in infrastructure investments throughout Fundy National Park.
Over an intensive two-year work plan, upgrades to Fundy National Park’s roads, trails, and campgrounds will revitalize visitor service facilities and create new ways for Canadians to experience this natural and cultural wonder. Enhancements to key services in campgrounds, for example, will ensure that Canada’s increasing population of young, urban families and urban youth will have the amenities they need to connect with nature on their own terms.
The infrastructure investments announced include more than $9.3 million in new investments in bridge repairs near Dickson Brook and restoration of Highway 114 as well as $18.8 million in specific projects as a part of an unprecedented $2.6 billion infrastructure investment announced on March 13, 2015 to support infrastructure work in national historic sites, national parks and national marine conservation areas across Canada.
