MP Jay Aspin (Nipissing—Timiskaming), on behalf of the Honourable Greg Rickford, Canada’s Minister of Natural Resources and Minister for the Federal Economic Development Initiative for Northern Ontario (FedNor), announced today an investment to support youth, tourism and innovation, while boosting the economic outlook for the Mattawa region.
FedNor funding of $31,500 will enable the Canadian Ecology Centre to develop, market, promote and deliver new science and technology programs, including a new astronomy program for students, corporate clients and the general public. Specifically, the funding will be used to hire a youth intern for a one-year period.
Since its inception, FedNor has helped provide more than 1535 young post-secondary graduates with their crucial first job, and assisted countless businesses and organizations, such as the Canadian Ecology Centre, in growing the economy by helping them access a qualified and talented workforce.
