June 5, 2015 – Brandon, Manitoba – Parks Canada
Today, Larry Maguire, Member of Parliament for Brandon-Souris on behalf of the Honourable Leona Aglukkaq, Minister of the Environment and Minister responsible for Parks Canada, announced an investment in the conservation of the Dominion Exhibit Display Building II National Historic Site of Canada.
The Dominion Exhibition Display Building II National Historic Site is a stately wooden exhibition building located in the midst of the City of Brandon’s exhibition grounds. The structure’s scale, materials and classical elements proclaim its early 20th-century origins. Many generations of families have celebrated agriculture and manufacturing in this iconic hall.
Through Parks Canada’s National Historic Sites Cost-Sharing Program, the Government of Canada is contribution up to $100,000 for restoration work to complete exterior repairs, including work on the domed corner pavilions. The work is part of a broader rehabilitation project. Work will continue the process of preserving this rare surviving example of a Dominion Exhibition building.
