Patrons of the Frenchman’s Bay boating clubs and marina enjoy safer, improved access to the Frenchman’s Bay Harbour thanks to the completion of the reconstruction of its entrance, made possible by federal, provincial and municipal investments. The project focused on improving the Harbour’s entrance by widening its access and replacing two breakwaters.
Frenchman's Bay has provided a natural calm water harbour for over a century, but the deteriorating conditions of the harbour entrance were presenting growing safety concerns. The redevelopment not only increases user safety and accessibility on the water, it also enhances the health and ecological conditions of the bay. The newly revitalized waterfront and additional trails will encourage greater recreational use.
“Our Government is proud to invest in important infrastructure projects like the reconstruction of the Frenchman’s Bay Harbour entrance. Improvements to the harbour entrance will help increase boater safety, promote tourismand enhance economic prosperity in the region of Durham. Federal investments like this one demonstrate our Government's continued support to improve infrastructure and create jobs, growth and long-term prosperity across the Province of Ontario.”
