Supporting Canadian businesses abroad boosts exports and creates jobs
June 25, 2015 - Dallas, Texas - Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development Canada
The Honourable Dr. K. Kellie Leitch, Minister of Labour and Minister of Status of Women, on behalf of International Trade Minister Ed Fast, today concluded a successful trade mission to Texas that focused on supporting Canadian women entrepreneurs as they grow their businesses and create jobs and economic growth benefitting all Canadians.
Trade mission delegates took part in the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) National Conference & Business Fair in Austin, Texas, and learned about opportunities for doing business in the United States.
While in Texas, Minister Leitch also met with government officials, businesswomen and representatives of businesswomen’s associations from across the United States, as well as Canada and Mexico, to gain insight into how the Government of Canada can assist women entrepreneurs.
“Our government’s number one priority is creating jobs, growth and long-term prosperity. That’s why I was pleased to lead this trade mission to Texas, which has opened new doors of opportunity for the outstanding Canadian businesswomen who participated. We know that when women succeed, the Canadian economy succeeds—and that’s great for Canada.”
- The Honourable Dr. K. Kellie Leitch, Minister of Labour and Minister of Status of Women
