Supporting Canadian businesses abroad boosts exports and creates jobs
June 19, 2015 – Ottawa, Ontario
The Honourable Dr. K. Kellie Leitch, Minister of Labour and Minister of Status of Women, on behalf of International Trade Minister Ed Fast, will lead a trade mission of Canadian businesswomen to Austin, Texas, from June 22 to 26. Trade mission delegates will also take part in the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) National Conference & Business Fair.
This multi-sector trade mission will provide women-led Canadian businesses, especially small and medium-sized enterprises, the opportunity to network with representatives from Fortune 500 companies and to connect with other women who want to do business, collaborate and form strategic alliances.
“Our government’s number one priority is creating jobs, growth and long-term prosperity. That’s why I am pleased to lead this trade mission to Austin, Texas, with women entrepreneurs seeking to grow their businesses by accessing the U.S. market.”
– The Honourable Dr. K. Kellie Leitch, Minister of Labour and Minister of Status of Women
“Our government is committed to supporting companies as they seek to boost their exports, and trade missions are just one of the tools we are providing to help them succeed. These entrepreneurs should be applauded for contributing to our economic future and creating jobs and opportunity right here in Canada.”
– Ed Fast, Minister of International Trade
