Agriculture Minister Gerry Ritz announced today the appointment of Alistair Johnston as Chairperson of the Canadian Dairy Commission (CDC) Board of Directors. Mr. Johnston's appointment is for a 4-year term effective August 1st, 2015. Biographical notes are attached.

Alistair is a career dairy industry leader serving this sector globally, in technical and management positions during his 40 year career.
Arriving in Canada in 1988 he joined the Northern Alberta Dairy Pool as Director, Operations, subsequently holding leadership roles within Dairyworld Foods and the Vanderpol Food Group. For the past several years he has provided technical and strategic assistance to dairy and food manufacturing enterprises domestically and internationally.
He has extensive Board experience with the BC Chicken Marketing Board and BC Investment Agriculture Foundation, British Columbia (BC) and Alberta Dairy Associations, BC Food Processors Association.
He regularly presents to industry gatherings on dairy topics and brings an in-depth understanding of Supply Management through his experience in the Canadian dairy, egg and chicken industries.
Alistair and his wife Arlene have 5 grown children and 7 grandkids and make their home in Langley, BC.
