Ottawa - I am delighted to mark National Public Service Week and to highlight the tremendous work of our public servants across Canada and around the world.
A strong public service, one that is merit-based, non-partisan and representative, is the cornerstone of any democratic society. Few organizations are as large, complex and important as Canada’s public service. Federal employees working within this system dedicated to excellence are at the core of something truly exceptional.
This week gives us the opportunity to recognize the value of the services they offer us. I join with all Canadians in thanking them for their efforts and vital contribution to building a smarter, more caring nation.
