June 7, 2015 - Lévis, Québec - Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)
Acting on behalf of the Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, Jacques Gourde, Member of Parliament for Lotbinière-Chutes-de-la-Chaudière and Parliamentary Secretary to the Prime Minister, for Official Languages and for the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, and Dominique Vien, Minister of Tourism, Minister responsible for the Chaudière-Appalaches region and Member of the National Assembly for Bellechasse, acting on behalf of Pierre Moreau, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Land Occupancy, take the opportunity of today’s inauguration of Rue des Pionniers in the Saint-Nicolas sector of Lévis to underscore the $2.6 million in government funding granted to the project through the Large Urban Centres component of the Building Canada Fund – Quebec.
“Our government sees it as essential that communities are equipped with adequate sanitation facilities. These improve the quality of life of Canadians and help strengthen the national economy. Renewing and modernizing our public infrastructure fulfils that dual objective,” said Jacques Gourde.
“Our government is working to improve infrastructure all over Quebec. That is why I am proud to highlight the completion of the project to replace the water main in Lévis’ Saint-Nicolas district. Our support of this important project is testimony of our commitment to improve community infrastructure in a tangible and lasting way and thereby contribute to the quality of life of citizens and the sustainable development of our communities,” added Minister Vien.
The project involved the replacement of water mains and sanitary sewer lines and the laying of storm sewer pipes along a more than one kilometre span of Des Pionniers and Fournier Streets and Chemin du Moulin in the Saint-Nicolas sector of Lévis.
