Prime Minister Stephen Harper met today with Prime Minister David Cameron of the United Kingdom. The leaders met in the context of the G-7 Summit in Germany.
At their meeting, the leaders reaffirmed the unique and enduring bond between Canada and the United Kingdom, and Prime Minister Harper congratulated Prime Minister Cameron on his recent election victory.
The two leaders discussed international issues of concern, including ways to grow the still fragile global economy. The two leaders reiterated the importance of maintaining a firm and united stance on Russia’s aggression in Ukraine, and urged Putin to respect and implement the Minsk Agreement. The leaders also discussed their shared priority of countering the threat from the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), which poses a threat to the security of the region and to Canada.
