June 12, 2015 - Ottawa - National Defence
Colonel Gerry Blais, Commanding Officer, Joint Personnel Support Unit issued the following statement:
“Contrary to reports, the Canadian Armed Forces are assuring that alternate housing continues to be made available to Sergeant Kevin Nanson and his family at no cost to them until the CAF-funded modification of his home is completed.
“The Department of National Defence and the Canadian Armed Forces recognize the exceptional challenges faced by seriously injured members of the Canadian Armed Forces and their families as a result of sacrifices made in service to our country.
“The Joint Personnel Support Unit was in fact created to assure dedicated, consistent support across the country and to facilitate access to the compensation and benefits applicable to their circumstances. Home modification is one of those benefits for which ill or injured members of the Canadian Armed Forces can claim.”
