June 26, 2015 – Moncton – Department of Canadian Heritage
Robert Goguen, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Justice and Member of Parliament (Moncton-Riverview-Dieppe), today announced support of $55,440 over two years ($37,920 in 2015–16 and $17,520 in 2016–17) for the Fédération des jeunes francophones du Nouveau-Brunswick (FJFNB). He made this announcement on behalf of the Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages.
The Government of Canada is providing this funding through the Development of Official-Language Communities Program. The FJFNB will use this support to organize a provincial concert tour this fall, featuring the 15 finalists from the competition Accros de la Chanson, emerging artists and young apprentice technicians. Established artists will also participate in the tour, creating a space for dialogue and learning with the youth. In addition, 1,000 copies of a guide to organizing concerts will be printed and distributed to youth in the province.
“Our two official languages are at the heart of our identity as Canadians. Our Government is proud to support organizations like the FJFNB that contribute to the development of youth and communities.”
—The Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages
“The project of the FJFNB will showcase young artists and Francophone music throughout the province. These activities enhance the quality of life in our communities and contribute to the local economy.”
—Robert Goguen, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Justice and Member of Parliament (Moncton–Riverview–Dieppe)
“We appreciate the contribution from Canadian Heritage, which will help us carry out some of our projects for young New Brunswick Francophones aged 14 to 21.”
