June 3, 2015 – Meaford, Ontario – Department of Canadian Heritage
The Government of Canada is providing $30,000 in funding over two years to support the 2015 and 2016 Electric Eclectics Festival ($15,000 for 2015–16 and $15,000 for 2016–17). Funding is provided through the Canada Arts Presentation Fund.
Larry Miller, Member of Parliament (Bruce–Grey–Owen Sound), made the announcement today on behalf of the Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages.
“Today’s announcement demonstrates our Government’s commitment to giving Canadians access to quality artistic performances. We are proud to partner with organizations that bring creative cultural activities to our communities.”
—The Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages
“I am very pleased that the federal government will support the Electric Eclectics Festival for the next two years. This has been a very popular festival that draws a number of people to Bruce and Grey for this unique event. I am looking forward to the continued success of this festival for years to come.”
—Larry Miller, Member of Parliament, (Bruce–Grey–Owen Sound)
“As an annual festival that presents avant-garde, exploratory music and art, in a rural setting, the Electric Eclectics Festival is unique to our region, and it is safe to say that we are a one-of-a-kind cultural event in the rural county of Grey-Bruce. We also attract a sizeable audience to our festival, thus bringing in significant tourism visits to our local community of Meaford, Ontario. The funding received from the Department of Canadian Heritage is crucial to the existence of the Electric Eclectics Festival, as without this support we would not continue to function.”
