OTTAWA – Approximately 170 Canadian soldiers will start training during Exercise ALLIED SPIRIT II on August 4 in Hohenfels, Germany, in support of NATO Assurance Measures. The exercise is part of Operation REASSURANCE, Canada’s effort to promote security and stability in Central and Eastern Europe in response to the Putin regime’s aggression towards Ukraine.
The soldiers from 3rd Battalion, Royal 22e Régiment (3 R22R), will train with forces from the Czech Republic, Georgia, Ireland, Italy, Serbia, the United Kingdom, and the United States from August 4-24 at the Joint Multinational Readiness Center. Exercise ALLIED SPIRIT II will enhance the interoperability of participating nations.
