Acting on behalf of the Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, and of the Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages, the Honourable Steven Blaney, Member of Parliament for Lévis–Bellechasse and Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, announces funding for the Festival d’été de Québec.
The assistance from Canada Economic Development, granted for the Festival’s 2015 and 2016 editions, has been awarded in the form of a $1,260,000 non-repayable contribution through the Quebec Economic Development Program. This funding will go to supporting the promotion and commercialization of the event on foreign markets.
Canadian Heritage, in turn, has granted $600,000 for the 2015 edition of the Festival. Funding of $550,000, provided through the Canada Arts Presentation Fund, will help offer audiences an array of shows in diverse musical genres, as well as activities in the city. Additional support of $50,000, provided through the Toronto 2015 Pan and Parapan American Games – Community Celebrations Fund, will allow the Festival to offer its visitors a series of performances by artists from the Americas.
