July 31, 2015 – Port Coquitlam, British Columbia – Infrastructure Canada
The Honourable James Moore, Minister of Industry, Minister Responsible for British Columbia and Member of Parliament for Port Moody – Westwood – Port Coquitlam, was joined today by Greg Moore, the Mayor of Port Coquitlam, to announce that the Port Coquitlam Community Recreation Complex Project has been selected for priority funding consideration under the Building Canada Fund – Major Infrastructure Component.
The new facility, which would be built in Port Coquitlam's downtown core near the West Coast Express Station, would include: three ice surfaces, an aquatic facility, a fitness studio, a youth and seniors space, a games room, a kitchen, a boardroom, four multi-purpose rooms, a Terry Fox display area and a library.
The Complex will replace and expand existing municipal facilities including the Port Coquitlam Recreation Complex, the Wilson Seniors Centre and the Terry Fox Library, which are older buildings that need to be replaced.
