Government of Canada pays tribute to the crew of the eight Canadian destroyers that served in the Korean War

July 28, 2015 – Burlington, ON – Veterans Affairs Canada

On behalf of the Honourable Erin O’Toole, Minister of Veterans Affairs, Mike Wallace, Member of Parliament for Burlington, today attended a commemorative ceremony at the RCN Korean War 8 Destroyers Monument, in Burlington. The ceremony paid tribute to the Korean War Veterans who served during the Korean War and to those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

The RCN Korean War 8 Destroyers Monument is dedicated to the eight Canadian destroyers that served during the Korean War and the nine crew members who never made it home.
The names of the nine crew members who perished are inscribed on the monument.
More than 26,000 brave Canadians served during the Korean War and 516 paid the ultimate price.
