July 9, 2015 – Ottawa, Ontario – Transport Canada
The Honourable Lisa Raitt, Minister of Transport, today proposed changes that will improve the efficiency and transparency of the construction and operations of aerodromes in Canada.
The proposed changes to the Canadian Aviation Regulations, published tomorrow in Canada Gazette, Part I, would require proponents to consult with stakeholders before developing an aerodrome or significantly changing an existing one. Stakeholders could include local citizens, municipalities, local aerodrome operators, air navigation service providers, and the Minister of Transport.
The Government of Canada is working in partnership with industry and community stakeholders to support safe and responsible aerodrome development. Canadians have 60 days to comment on the proposed changes. The final regulations are expected to be published in Canada Gazette, Part II, in 2016.
