Eastern Composite Services improves service centre and creates new jobs at Argentia facility
July 13, 2015 – Argentia, NL – Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA)
Eastern Composite Services (ECS), a local company specializing in fiberglass, rubber and plastic lined products (pipe and vessels), has created a facility in Argentia for manufacturing and servicing businesses requiring these specialized products, thanks in part to funding from the Government of Canada. ECS is a maintenance and repair company for special construction materials commonly used in the corrosion resistance industry.
The Honourable Rob Moore, Regional Minister for Newfoundland and Labrador and Minister of State (Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency), made the announcement today as ECS completed work on the project. Federal funding for the project was provided through a repayable contribution of more than $464,000, which has helped create close to 25 full-time jobs.
In addition to leasehold improvements, ECS purchased new equipment required to set up the facility. The completion of this project assists ECS to fulfill its maintenance contract with the Vale Hydrometallurgy Nickel Processing Plant in Long Harbour and prepares it for future contracts to provide similar services.
