July 21, 2015 – Toronto, Ontario – Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario)
Perimeter Medical Imaging, Inc., a Toronto-based medical device company, will develop and test an innovative new breast cancer imaging tool thanks to an investment by the Harper Government of $980,000.
The announcement was made today by Member of Parliament for Don Valley West John Carmichael, on behalf of FedDev Ontario Minister Gary Goodyear, at Perimeter's new facilities in downtown Toronto.
This investment, made through FedDev Ontario's Investing in Business Innovation initiative, will support the next phase of product and clinical development as well as accelerate regulatory clearances for Perimeter's Optical Tissue Imaging System (OTIS™). This intra-operative imaging tool will provide surgeons, radiologist and pathologists with the ability to review tissue microstructure during tumour removal surgery. This innovative tool will decrease the need for follow-up surgeries, thereby reducing hospital costs while providing better healthcare for patients.
FedDev Ontario's Investing in Business Innovation initiative is designed to foster a more competitive southern Ontario economy by focusing on providing business support to new enterprises, helping them transform their ideas into globally-competitive products and services, and increasing their access to private sector investment and advice.
