July 23, 2015 – Six Nations of the Grand River – Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Canada
Phil McColeman, Member of Parliament for Brant, on behalf of the Honourable Bernard Valcourt, Minister of Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development, today announced support to the Six Nations Polytechnic, for programs designed and delivered to prepare First Nation youth with the skills and training needed to join the labour market.
Member of Parliament McColeman made the announcement during a visit to Six Nations Polytechnic, which is receiving $1,401,840 for a number of programs in various high-demand sectors.
By promoting post-secondary education programming with labour market needs, the Government of Canada is ensuring that youth are equipped with the tools and opportunities they need to find and hold meaningful, sustainable jobs.
The revamped Post-Secondary Partnerships Program (formerly the Indian Studies Support Program) aligns with government priorities by supporting post-secondary institutions to develop/deliver courses with a strong relationship to labour market needs.
