Today, Minister Leona Aglukkaq, Minister of the Environment, Minister of the Canadian Northern Economic Development Agency and Minister for the Arctic Council announced that since its creation in 2009 to the end of March 2015 CanNor has invested over $222 million in more than 1000 projects to foster economic development across the North.
CanNor has provided support for community involvement in major resource development projects, contributed to business capacity and innovation, improved local infrastructure, helped develop training that is tailored to the needs of local job markets, and enhanced participation in local labour markets. CanNor funding has also supported community infrastructure projects such as daycare and community centres, and energy upgrades.
