Investing in Culture and Heritage in the Temiskaming Region

Government of Canada supports Temiskaming’s cultural organizations

July 14, 2015 – Temiskaming Shores, Ontario – Department of Canadian Heritage

The Government of Canada is providing a total of $42,170 in funding to two organizations in the Temiskaming region. A contribution of $37,000 was allocated through the Community Life component of the Development of Official-Language Communities Program to the Association canadienne-française de l’Ontario, région du Témiskaming, to support its 2015–16 annual programming.

The Temiskaming Art Gallery received $5,170 in support from the Museums Assistance Program to host “Canada at Play: A Hundred Years of Games, Toys and Sports - Community Outreach,” a travelling exhibition from the Royal Ontario Museum.

Jay Aspin, Member of Parliament (Nipissing–Temiskaming), made this announcement today on behalf of the Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages.

The Development of Official-Language Communities Program is designed to enhance the vitality of Canada’s French- and English-speaking minority communities and enable them to participate fully in all aspects of Canadian life.
The Exhibition Circulation Fund of the Museums Assistance Program assists museums with the costs related to the hosting of travelling exhibitions and the borrowing of artifacts from the Canadian Museum of History or the Canadian War Museum for exhibition purposes.
