COMOX, BRITISH COLUMBIA – The Honourable Julian Fantino, Associate Minister of National Defence, and the Honourable John Duncan, Minister of State (Chief Government Whip) and Member of Parliament for Vancouver Island North, today announced a significant investment of close to $30 million for 19 Wing Comox. In total, eight projects at 19 Wing Comox will be completed over the next two years.
The support announced today will be used to build and renovate housing units, upgrade hangars and airfields, and protect the Base and surrounding area against flood and erosion factors. Renewal of CFB Comox will help ensure that the Base is a modern, safe and secure Canadian Armed Forces facility that will enable personnel to carry out their missions in a timely and effective manner for years to come.
“19 Wing has been a vital part of Comox for nearly 75 years, serving as a major force in shaping the community and making it such a wonderful place to live. This nearly $30 million investment in 19 Wing will ensure it remains that way for generations to come, while also providing a significant boost in terms of job creation and economic growth for Comox.”
