ROUYN-NORANDA, QUEBEC — The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, on behalf of the Honourable Julian Fantino, Associate Minister of National Defence, today announced an investment of $385,000 in funding to improve infrastructure at the Armoury in Rouyn-Noranda, in support of the Canadian Armed Forces and to help create local jobs.
This investment will allow for a variety of repairs and upgrades to building envelope and roof as well as interior flooring and lighting improvements, skylight replacement, and mechanical and electrical systems replacement.
Located in north-western Quebec on the shores of Osisko Lake, the town of Rouyn-Noranda became home to 34e Régiment du génie de combat – détachement Rouyn-Noranda. This regiment is a Reserve unit that belongs to 34 Canadian Brigade Group and has occupied its current facility since 1989.
