The Honourable Rob Nicholson, P.C., Q.C., M.P. for Niagara Falls, Minister of Foreign Affairs, today concluded a successful meeting with the Honourable Julie Bishop, Australia’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, on the margins of the Australia-Canada Economic Leadership Forum.
During the meeting, the two ministers signed the Glasgow-Burchell Declaration on Enhanced Diplomatic Network Cooperation, further expanding Canada and Australia’s multifaceted bilateral relations. The aim of the Joint Declaration is to enhance the effectiveness of our overseas networks, to develop best practices, and to identify and generate efficiencies in our respective operations.
The ministers also witnessed the signing of a three-year Student Mobility Agreement between Mitacs Canada and Universities Australia. Mitacs Globalink offers two-way mobility opportunities between Canada and Mitacs Canada partner countries, promoting Canada as a top destination for research opportunities and showcasing Canadian research expertise around the world.
