Defence Research and Development Canada Suffield Research Centre hosted delegates from nine nations in a three-week long exercise
July 31, 2015
OTTAWA – A contingent representing over 300 personnel from nine NATO nations today concluded Exercise Precise Response at Defence Research and Development Canada (DRDC) – Suffield Research Centre, in Suffield, Alberta. During the last three weeks, chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) specialists trained together to respond as part of the NATO Reactionary Force, a coalition against the use of CBRN threats.
From July 13th to 31st, Canada hosted and participated in one of NATO’s premier CBRN training exercises with representatives from Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, the United Kingdom, and the United States. This multinational event offered these specialists the opportunity to test their skills, improve interoperability, and enhance coalition preparedness in one of the most thorough and realistic environments.
During Exercise Precise Response, participants faced biological, chemical, and radiological emergency situations using live agents in a controlled environment. The exercise included scenarios for teams from a single nation, as well as multi-national scenarios.
