This project consists of 15 rehabilitation and new construction sites along Routes 1 and 2, which are part of the National Highway System. Once complete, the work will significantly improve driver safety and traffic flow along this key transportation route.

Component 1: Route 2 – Tignish
Covering a distance of 2,440 metres on Route 2 in Tignish, rehabilitation work at this site involves replacing asphalt and shoulder material, and adjusting catch basins.
Component 2: Route 2 – Carleton/Woodstock
Covering a distance of 3,040 metres on Route 2 in Carleton/Woodstock, rehabilitation work at this site involves replacing asphalt and shoulder material.
Component 3: Route 2 – Portage
Covering a distance of 920 metres on Route 2 in Portage, rehabilitation work at this site involves replacing asphalt and shoulder material.
Component 4: Route 2 – Miscouche
Covering a distance of 3,420 metres on Route 2 in Miscouche, rehabilitation work at this site involves replacing asphalt and shoulder material.
Component 5: Route 2 – Summerside
Covering a distance of 700 metres on Route 2 in Summerside, rehabilitation work at this site involves earth excavation to change the intersection geometry, and replacing asphalt and shoulder material.
Component 6: Route 2 – Norboro/Kensington
Covering a distance of 2,700 metres on Route 2 in Norboro/Kensington, rehabilitation work at this site involves replacing asphalt and shoulder material.
Component 7: Route 2 – Springfield
Covering a distance of 1,460 metres on Route 2 in Springfield, rehabilitation work at this site involves replacing asphalt and shoulder material, and replacing a guiderail.
Component 8: Route 1 – Tryon West
New construction at this site along Route 1 in Tryon West, involves installing a 30- to 40-foot concrete arch structure to accommodate stream and storm water drainage, constructing approximately 1,100 metres of new highway to replace an existing section, and constructing a 350-metre new road that will connect Tryon Mill Road and Branch Road to the new section of highway. Proposed work includes clearing, grubbing, earth excavation, placing asphalt, shouldering, landscaping, and installing a concrete arch and guardrail. Agreements will be in place to secure the land before the project commences.
Component 9: Route 1 – Hampton
Covering a distance of 1,850m on Route 1 in Hampton, rehabilitation work at this site involves replacing asphalt and shoulder material.
Component 10: Route 1 – Cornwall
Covering a distance of 1,050 metres on Route 1 in Cornwall, rehabilitation work at this site involves replacing asphalt and shoulder material.
Component 11: Route 1 – Charlottetown
Covering a distance of 1,600 metres on Route 1 in Charlottetown, rehabilitation work at this site involves replacing asphalt and shoulder material, and waterproofing a bridge deck.
Component 12: Route 2 – Marshfield
Covering a distance of 1,362 metres on Route 2 in Marshfield, rehabilitation work at this site involves replacing asphalt and shoulder material.
Component 13: Route 2 – Tracadie Cross
Covering a distance of 1,600 metres on Route 2 in Tracadie Cross, construction at this site involves a new 820-metre climbing lane and the rehabilitation of the existing alignment and grades for the full 1,600 metres. Planned work includes stripping the topsoil, earth excavation, and placing asphalt and shoulder material.
Component 14: Route 1 – Mount Herbert
Covering a distance of 555 metres on Route 1 in Mount Herbert, this site will construct two opposing left turn lanes. Planned work at this site includes earth excavation, placing asphalt and shoulder material, and landscaping.
Component 15: Route 2 – Farmington
This component covers a distance of 1,000 metres on Route 2 in Farmington. Planned work at this site includes replacing asphalt and shoulder material.
