The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) announced today the seizure of 52 kilograms of suspected cocaine at the Ambassador Bridge in Windsor, Ontario.
On July 27, 2015, a border services officer referred a commercial truck and trailer driven by a 26-year-old male for a secondary examination. While searching the truck, officers discovered 52 bricks of suspected cocaine inside three duffel bags and a tote located in the storage areas of the truck.
CBSA officers seized the suspected cocaine and arrested the individual. The CBSA contacted the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) who took custody of the drugs and the individual.
The RCMP charged Lavdrim Mehmeti of Scarborough, Ontario with importing cocaine and possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking. Mehmeti is currently in custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Windsor, Ontario on August 4, 2015.
