July 17, 2015 - Ottawa, Ontario - Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development Canada
The Honourable Rob Nicholson, P.C., Q.C., M.P. for Niagara Falls, Minister of Foreign Affairs, today issued the following statement on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr:
“Muslims around the world and in Canada are gathering to celebrate Eid al-Fitr, which marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan, a spiritual journey of prayer, reflection and fasting that commemorates the revelation of the Quran.
“On this important occasion, Muslims get together with family and friends to give thanks for the spiritual renewal and blessings acquired over the past month, offer congregational prayers and enjoy festive meals. Eid al-Fitr is also a time of giving through charitable donations to the less fortunate.
“I would like to extend my best wishes for a happy and joyful Eid al-Fitr to Muslim communities in Canada and around the world.
“Eid Mubarak.”
