Government of Canada provides funding to three organizations in the Moncton region

Robert Goguen, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Justice and Member of Parliament (Moncton–Riverview–Dieppe), today announced a total of $120,500 in funding for three organizations in New Brunswick. He made this announcement on behalf of the Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages.

The Government of Canada is providing support through the Development of Official-Language Communities Program to the following organizations: the Conseil provincial des sociétés culturelles ($30,000 in 2015–16), the Société Nationale de l’Acadie ($40,500 in 2015–16) and the Fédération des jeunes francophones du Nouveau-Brunswick ($38,000 in 2015–16 and $12,000 in 2016–17).

The Conseil provincial des sociétés culturelles will carry out the intergenerational Contes à rebours project, which will invite elementary and secondary school students to gather stories and legends from seniors in their community and share them through short radio programs.
The Société Nationale de l’Acadie will present the Festival jeunesse de l’Acadie 2015, which will be held in November in Prince Edward Island. Around 100 young Francophones aged 12 to 18 from the Atlantic provinces, the Magdalen Islands and Saint-Pierre and Miquelon will have the chance to take part in four days of workshops, forums and cultural presentations on various artistic disciplines.
Through the Oratoria project, which will run from September 1, 2015, to August 31, 2016, the Fédération des jeunes francophones du Nouveau-Brunswick aims to enable 1,000 young people aged 14 to 18 to improve their public-speaking ability and give them the opportunity to take part in a summit on the art of public speaking.
The Development of Official-Language Communities Program is designed to foster the vitality of Canada’s French- and English-speaking minority communities and enable them to participate fully in all aspects of Canadian life.
