July 29, 2015 – Québec — The National Battlefields Commission
The National Battlefields Commission would like to inform all motorists that Gilmour Hill will be temporarily closed to traffic from 6 a.m. on Monday, August 17, until midnight on Sunday, August 23. This closure will enable workers to complete masonry and landscaping work (wall, coping, seeding) in order to permanently correct the geometry of traffic islands to facilitate snow removal.
Quick Facts
- The full closure of Gilmour Hill will make it possible to maximize efficiency by eliminating the need to set up and remove equipment and materials daily, and to extend work hours and add additional shifts as needed, depending on the progress of work. For safety reasons traffic will be limited to authorized construction personnel and their vehicles and equipment from 6 a.m. on August 17 to midnight on August 23.
- Note that in the lead-up to the full closure, traffic will be limited to a single lane, alternating directions, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. from Monday, August 3 through Sunday, August 16. A flagger will be on hand to direct traffic, and special signage will be in place while work is in progress.
- The National Battlefields Commission reminds drivers that information on the status of Gilmour Hill is available at any time by phone at 418-648-4212 or online at www.theplainsofabraham.ca.
