Tronosjet Maintenance Inc., a Prince Edward Island aerospace company, is researching a new solution to provide cost-effective aircraft services to remote communities.
The Honourable Gail Shea, Minister of Fisheries and Oceans, on behalf of the Honourable Rob Moore, Minister of State (Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency), today announced federal funding for Tronosjet Maintenance Inc., located in Slemon Park.
With this funding, the company will undertake the necessary research for the development of a converted hybrid aircraft that will feature the combined attributes of both passenger and freight aircraft to service remote communities.

- The Government of Canada is supporting this project with a repayable contribution of $79,500 through ACOA’s Business Development Program.
- Through the development of this combination passenger-freight aircraft, Tronosjet Maintenance Inc. hopes to create a cost-effective solution for carriers that service remote areas.
- The company has been successful in converting Bae 146 aircraft into the world’s first ever jet-powered 3,000 gallon tanker, which is the most advanced land-based firefighting air tanker in the world.
- The aerospace industry in Prince Edward Island is one of the fastest growing and leading economic industry sectors in the province.
