Project made possible thanks to New Building Canada Plan
July 31, 2015 – Saskatoon, Saskatchewan – Infrastructure Canada
The governments of Canada and Saskatchewan are announcing funding for 26 projects in communities across the province under the New Building Canada Plan’s Small Communities Fund.
The Small Communities Fund is part of the $10-billion Provincial-Territorial Infrastructure Component of the New Building Canada Fund. It will provide $1 billion to municipalities with fewer than 100,000 residents for priority public infrastructure projects that deliver on local needs. These investments support job creation and economic growth, thus sustaining a high quality of life in small communities across Saskatchewan for years to come.
Funding for these projects will help Saskatchewan communities improve water and wastewater systems, waste management, major roads, and disaster mitigation infrastructure. Once complete, the work will significantly improve key municipal services for residents and help boost regional development.
"We are proud to invest in infrastructure improvements across Saskatchewan that will benefit communities across the entire province by improving much needed local infrastructure. Our Government's commitment to municipalities, big and small, has never been stronger. Through the New Building Canada Plan's Small Communities Fund, we are investing in priority infrastructure projects that have a positive and lasting impact on the quality of life of Saskatchewan's residents while helping create jobs and economic growth."
