On August 24, 2015, an inmate from the medium security unit at Stony Mountain Institution was found unresponsive in a common area.
Staff members immediately began performing CPR and emergency services were called. The inmate could not be resuscitated.
At the time of his death, Mr. Clayton Thomas Korski, 33 years old, had been serving an indeterminate sentence for First Degree Murder since July 5, 2007.
The inmate’s next of kin have been notified of his death.
As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, the police and the coroner have been notified, and Correctional Service Canada will review the circumstances of the incident.
The Warden has ordered a lockdown and search. Visits have been suspended until the search is completed.
