Five projects announced under the Community Dikes Initiative
July 31, 2015 – Infrastructure Canada
Residents of five Manitoba communities were assured today that they can look forward to improved flood protection for their families and properties thanks to a joint federal-provincial investment from the Community Dikes Initiative through the Provincial-Territorial Base Fund.
The Community Dikes Initiative provides joint federal and provincial funding for new flood mitigation infrastructure in flood prone communities. The five projects announced today include upgraded flood protection in the rural municipalities of Cartier, Taché, Wallace-Woodworth, Deloraine-Winchester, and Grahamdale. In total, these projects will help protect more than 280 properties in the five municipalities.
Including today's announcement, the governments of Canada and Manitoba have jointly announced $12,780,000 in projects under the Community Dikes Initiative, protecting more than 400 properties throughout the province.
