October 15, 2015 – Montreal – National Film Board of Canada (NFB)
The National Film Board of Canada and Tandem Productions are pleased to announce the publication of a whole new series of digital box sets and DVDs presenting in an innovative and original way the well-known and unknown treasures of the NFB’s vast collection.
This new collection will offer the public and collectors works of fiction and documentaries as they have never been seen before. It will also include an unpublished and sometimes surprising presentation and commentary of the cultural, sport and political environments, or Canadian information which will shed light on selected films.
The first box sets will be made available at the beginning of 2016. They include the following: Leonard Cohen, Films pour enfants, Les canadiens pendant la première guerre mondiale, Glenn Gould, Gilles Vigneault, and Le hockey, notre passion.
“This new series is another way to enhance the NFB’s vast and diverse collection and to make it more accessible for the public. Some less known pieces will particularly benefit from it, giving full meaning to this collaboration with Tandem Productions. A business partnership such as this one enhances our cultural life,” says Claude Joli-Cœur, Government Film Commissioner and Chairperson of the NFB.
“Working with the NFB, with its important cultural catalogue and its unique significance not only in Canada but also in the entire world, is truly a privilege. I see this institution as one of the greatest creation drivers on the planet and I am already excited about the quality of the box sets we will be able to offer to the public,” claims Paul Dupont-Hébert, Tandem Chairman.
In Canada and elsewhere, the box sets will be sold in DVD format. The works will also be made available as box sets or individually via digital distribution networks.
