CNSC publishes REGDOC-2.5.5, Design of Industrial Radiography Installations

News release

The Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) has published REGDOC-2.5.5, Design of Industrial Radiography Installations following a public consultation period held from March 9 to June 16, 2017.

The regulatory document provides guidance for the design of radiography installations. This information will assist individuals in the design and construction of installations that are safe to use, and that ensure that doses to certified exposure device operators, workers and all persons in the vicinity of the work being performed are within regulatory limits and are kept as low as reasonably achievable.

The CNSC regulates the use of nuclear energy and materials to protect the health, safety, security and the environment; to implement Canada’s international commitments on the peaceful use of nuclear energy; and to disseminate objective scientific, technical and regulatory information to the public

Quick facts

  • Licensees must ensure that effective measures are in place to limit the radiation exposure to any person as a result of their licensed activities.

  • The CNSC welcomes feedback on regulatory documents at any time.
