Public hearing on Pickering Nuclear Generating Station and Waste Management Facility

Ottawa, Ontario – Part 2 of a 2-part public hearing held by the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) will take place from October 6 to 9, 2026, to consider an application from Ontario Power Generation (OPG) to renew the power reactor operating licence for the Pickering Nuclear Generating Station (PNGS) and the waste facility operating licence for the Pickering Waste Management Facility. The Commission will also consider the proposed refurbishment of PNGS Units 5 to 8.
During Part 2 of the hearing, the Commission will consider further oral and written submissions from CNSC staff and OPG, as well as oral and written interventions from Indigenous Nations and communities, members of the public and other interested parties.
