Celebrate the Holiday Season with Parks Canada
News Release
Join Fort Malden National Historic Site for a festive Garrison Christmas
December 1, 2015 Amherstburg, Ontario Parks Canada
Parks Canada invites visitors to experience how soldiers and their families celebrated the holiday season 200 years ago during Fort Malden National Historic Site’s Garrison Christmas on Saturday, December 19, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Begin your afternoon sipping cider and eating cookies by the warmth of the fire in the soldier’s cookhouse. Treat yourself to a sample of a soldier's Christmas meal in the festively decorated brick barrack, while enjoying music of the period. At this family friendly event, make decorations to take home and participate in festive games and activities. Top off your afternoon with a bang at a musket demonstration. Find inspiration for last minute gifts in our gift shop. Regular admission fees apply.
As we near the 150th anniversary of Confederation in 2017, the Government of Canada invites Canadians to experience and learn more about our environment and our heritage. Canada’s national parks and national historic sites enable Canadians to experience their rich history and heritage in a special way and will play a big part in Canada’s anniversary celebrations.
