Fort Témiscamingue National Historic Site Opens its Doors for a New Season
News Release
June 6, 2016 Duhamel-Ouest, Quebec Parks Canada Agency
Fort Témiscamingue National Historic Site will open its doors from June 18th to September 5th, 2016 for a new season. A major 17th and 18th century trading post, the site had been inhabited for millennia by the Algonquin. Ruins and reconstructions are part of the decor to provide a true to life experience.
The 2016 season marks the return of the Amis du Vieux-Fort, an association of people who are passionate about the history of Fort Témiscamingue. This partnership illustrates the importance of the Fort for the public and will enable people to contribute to its development and its promotion. These important allies will help to improve the services offered to visitors.
As we near the 150th anniversary of Confederation in 2017, the Government of Canada invites Canadians to experience Canada’s remarkable natural heritage and rich history in national parks and national historic sites this summer
