Parks Canada launched its season long celebrations of Sir Wilfrid Laurier’s 175th birthday at Laurier House National Historic Site. A summer full of activities including unique dining opportunities and theatrical shows will culminate with a birthday celebration on the former Prime Minister’s birthdate, November 20th.

Sir Wilfrid Laurier is the focal point of new visitor experience opportunities this summer.

Working with Cordon Bleu Ottawa, Laurier House National Historic Site will offer unique lunch and tour combinations and elegant state dinners where visitors will enjoy a three course meal inspired by the Laurier period. Parks Canada is also offering a Scotch whiskey tasting where you can toast the great statesman. In conjunction with Live Theatre, Laurier House is hosting Mary's Odyssey - The Laurier Years Interactive Theatre, where visitors can shake hands with Sir Wilfred Laurier and William Lyon Mackenzie-King and help solve a mystery.

Special exhibits about Prime Minister Laurier featuring photographs, souvenirs, correspondence, and original historical records from Library and Archives Canada’s collections are on display at Laurier House and at the Fairmont Château Laurier this year. In November, join a three-day birthday celebration to celebrate Laurier’s life.

Whether seeking the water of life (Scotch), a thrilling theater experience, or enjoying the Prime Minister’s legacy in quiet contemplation, Laurier House has something for everyone’s tastes.

Laurier House National Historic Site is the only former Prime Ministerial residence routinely open to the public and was the Prime Ministers’ home for nearly 50 years in the first half of the 20th Century.
