Parks Canada Unveils New oTENTiks in Stanhope Campground at PEI National Park
News Release
Visitors learn about oTENTiks, interpretative programming and infrastructure projects
June 6, 2016 Charlottetown, PEI Parks Canada Agency
Prince Edward Island National Park’s visitors had the opportunity to learn more about Stanhope Campground’s new oTENTiks, the ongoing infrastructure projects taking place in PEI National Park, and the new and innovative visitor experiences planned for 2016 during an open house.
Parks Canada continues to improve its visitor offer with investments in infrastructure – particularly in campgrounds and day use-areas, the addition of oTENTik accommodations across the country, and even more innovative and educational events and activities. Last year, Parks Canada announced more than $24 million in investments for several infrastructure projects in PEI National Park, including road resurfacing, the rehabilitation of Covehead Bridge, and the reforestation of original Acadian forest.
Interpretive programming was also highlighted at the event. Running from July 2 to September 5, these innovative programs and services will allow more Canadians, including youth and newcomers, to experience the outdoors and learn about our environment and history. There will be favourite programs from past seasons such as Campground Ceilidhs, Sensational Sandcastles and Mi’kmaq Legends, as well as new visitor experiences like Mornings with Parka, the Beach Hut and Top Hat Time Machine.
Parks Canada would like to thank all visitors and residents for their patience as we complete this important work. Every effort will be made to ensure minimal disruption to visitors and local residents, however there may be short-term traffic delays.
