News Release
On July 16, connect with your local national park
July 6, 2016 Mallorytown Landing, ON Parks Canada Agency
Parks Day offers a great opportunity to discover the rich heritage of Thousand Islands National Park, a place where nature and culture intermingle. The park’s Mallorytown Landing visitor centre is the location for Parks Day activities from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 16. Speaking of Wildlife have shows at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. and will present living examples of some of the fantastic wildlife that makes the Thousand Islands so extraordinary. Be sure to charge your phone so you can get photos of these special park visitors, or snap a selfie with Parka, Parks Canada’s mascot, to share with your friends.
Parks Day is an ideal opportunity to picnic on the beautiful shore of the St Lawrence River. Bring some charcoal and make use of our extra-large barbeques. All members of your family will enjoy the many ongoing sport, craft, and game activities. Children will enjoy following clues as part of the Escape to the Islands challenge inside the park’s visitor center. By solving the riddles, they are able to collect different pieces of a puzzle and assemble their take-home prize.
As we near the 150th anniversary of Confederation in 2017, the Government of Canada invites Canadians to experience and learn more about the environment and our heritage. Whether visiting Thousand Islands National Park for the first time or for the thousandth time, there is always something new and fun to discover.
For more information on Parks Day activities, please contact the park by telephone at 613-923-5261 or by email at ont-ti@pc.gc.ca or visit our website.
